Overview
As the lead UX designer & PM, I directed the development of a cross-device HMI architecture that unified interaction logic and visual behavior across Samsung Smart TV, tablet, and mobile platforms under the early One UI vision. The system introduced Samsung’s first generation of Bixby voice interaction, gesture control, and touchpad remote interface, bringing multimodal interaction and natural feedback to large-screen environments. By harmonizing input and display behavior across devices, this work established the foundation of Samsung’s One UI HMI principles and received the CES Innovation Award, Consumer’s Choice Award, and the Prime Minister’s Award for its pioneering user-centered design.

Challenge
How might we create a unified HMI / UX experience across Samsung’s Smart TV, tablet, and mobile devices while respecting each platform’s unique interaction context and input capabilities?
Objective
Lead the design of a multimodal HMI / UX system that integrates voice, gesture, and touchpad inputs into one consistent interaction framework under the early One UI vision, ensuring usability, coherence, and accessibility across device types.
Result
Delivered a cohesive cross-device HMI that introduced Samsung’s first Bixby voice, gesture, and touchpad remote controls. The work established the foundation of the One UI experience and earned CES Innovation, Consumer’s Choice, and Prime Minister’s Awards for its human-centered and forward-looking HMI design.
